When using this website, your personal data will be processed by us as the data controller and stored for as long as is necessary for the fulfilment of the purposes specified and statutory requirements. Below, we provide information about which data this involves, how it will be processed, and which rights you are entitled to in this regard.

2. Processing Personal Data and Purposes of Processing

a) When Visiting the Website

Visiting www.fraunhofer.de does not require disclosure of your identity. The browser automatically sends information (browser type, version, date/time of access, IP address) to allow a connection with the website. This data is temporarily stored in log files and deleted after 4 days.

The IP address is processed for:

  • Technical and administrative purposes
  • Connection setup and stability
  • Security and functioning of the website
  • Tracking illegal attacks

Legal basis: Article 6(1)(f) GDPR — legitimate interest in website security.

No direct conclusions about your identity are drawn. Cookies and analytics services are also used (see Clauses 4 and 5).


b) When Registering for Events

Mandatory data for event registration:

  • First name and surname
  • Address
  • Email address
  • Other mandatory fields marked with *

Voluntary data may also be provided.

Purpose: Identify participants, fulfill participation contract, provide event information.

Legal basis: Article 6(1)(b) GDPR — performance of a contract.

Service provider: Mailingwork GmbH, Germany. Data stored on Mailingwork servers. Order processing agreement in place.


c) When Using the Ordering Service

Mandatory data for ordering:

  • Title
  • First name, surname
  • Address
  • Country

Optional data: title, company, department, order specifics.

Purpose: Identify contractual partner, check plausibility, process order.

Legal basis: Article 6(1)(b) GDPR — performance of contract.

Service provider: lettershop-berlin.de (data submitted manually). Data deleted after order completion.

Subscription orders are stored until termination; one-time orders deleted after delivery.


d) When Subscribing to a Newsletter

Requires email address and language selection. Optional: name, address, phone number.

Process:

Service provider: Mailingwork GmbH, Germany. Data stored on Mailingwork servers, GDPR-compliant.


e) When Using the Contact Form for Tenders

Mandatory data:

  • Title
  • First name and surname
  • Company
  • Department and function
  • Country
  • Telephone
  • Email
  • Query

Optional: address, fax, homepage, files.

Purpose: Determine legitimacy of query, process requests.

Legal basis: Article 6(1)(f) GDPR — legitimate interest.

Data deleted after query completion.


3. Transfer of Personal Data to Third Parties

We forward personal data only if:

  • Express consent (Article 6(1)(a))
  • Contractual necessity (Article 6(1)(b))
  • Statutory obligation (Article 6(1)(c))

Transfer to third countries (outside EU) or international organizations is excluded.


4. Cookies

Cookies are small files stored on your device. Used for:

  • Statistical analysis of website usage
  • Optimizing website offers

Automatically deleted after a defined time. Legal basis: Article 6(1)(f) GDPR — legitimate interest.

  • Uses tracking pixels and cookies
  • Identifies companies visiting the site (not individuals)

  • Opt-out available via opt-out link

Shariff solution ensures personal data is only sent when a social button is clicked.

Embedded YouTube videos use extended data protection mode.

  • Connection to YouTube servers only occurs when video is viewed
  • IP addresses and page visit data may be transmitted
  • Consent given per Article 6(1)(f) GDPR
